Cisco Configuration tool with problem on 1800

Hi,

On the configuration tool i've got the following result:

You have successfully complete your configuration!

- Cisco 1841

- CAB-AC

- S184AISK9-12411

- MEM1800-32U64CF

- MEM1841-128U192D

- HWIC-2FE

- ROUTER-SDM

So, two things are strange:

(a)- The IOS [S18AISK9-12411XJ] is belonging to 2801 router series not to 1800 series. I checked it myself using the Cisco Feature Navigator.

UML: http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp

(b) The module HWIC-2FE is not supported on the Cisco 1841 router. I checked it myself looking on module's data-sheet

UML: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5854/products_data_sheet0900aecd80581fe6.html

I'd like to know if the Cisco Configuration tool is actually in good conditions, because there are too much in?con?sist?en?cy informations.

According to:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5855/products_data_sheet0900aecd80581fe6.html

HWIC-2FE works under 1841, where does it say it's not supported ?

Edit: Oops, read the link a bit more carefully and indeed is not supported, my apologies.

Follow the paragraf:

(Note: The 2-port (HWIC-2FE) card is offered on the Cisco 3800 Series Routers only. The 2-port card is not supported on the Cisco 1841 nor the Cisco 2800 Series Integrated Services Routers.)

Reading this text i understand that Hwic-2FE is not supported on the Cisco 1841 (it says it), maybe the text is an old document.

Ok no problem!

So, can you help me? I need the correct information about the HWIC-2FE. Is it really incompatible on 1841?

If it is, we need to warn Cisco change the configuration tool. Other people could do the same mistake.

Tks

I tried to duplicate your problem and I couldn't but there is a router that comes with 2FE, so you don't need the HWIC-2FE

CISCO1841

Modular Router w/2xFE, 2 WAN slots, 32 FL/128 DR 1

CAB-AC

Power Cord,110V 1

S184AISK9-12411T

Cisco 1841 IOS ADVANCED IP SERVICES 1

MEM1800-32U64CF

32 to 64MB Cisco 1800 Compact Flash factory upgrade 1

MEM1841-128U192D

128 to 192MB SODIMM DRAM factory upgrade for the Cisco 1841 1

Included: ROUTER-SDM

The Cisco 1841 Router come with 2FE ports on its chassis, but my end-customer need more 2FE routed ports to his Laboratory.

He's a programmer, he need 4 routed ports type FE to do tests (programs/applications) by changing packets IPV4 and IPV6 between differents Lan's.

I see, well - as you know the HWIC-2FE is the only option then. Can I recommend looking into the 3560 8port switch for this type of scenario ?

Yes, using 3560 Layer 3 switch we can do some vlan's and change packets between them.

But what im really afraid of Configuration Tool result. As you can see the configuration "says" that the 1841 router is compatible with the HWIC-2FE (using IOS ADV IP SERVICE). Many end-custumer or Cisco Partner can do mistakes ordering this module therefore not work! We need ask Cisco to change the configurator result (if it is wrong).

I ll sugest your ideia to my end-custumer.

I agree, best to email them at web-help@cisco.com
