We have a ASA5505 at a branch office for IPSEC VPN to main office. Telneting to the ASA5505 gives a message "Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed". The branch office has access to the internet. Any suggestions to be telnet to above firewall would be appreciated.

Using ssh to remote acccess your ASA box is always best way.
You can download and install a SSH client to your PC,like Putty, it's a free software, you can get it at
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
Or you can buy a SecureCRT if you want more powerful SSH client.
Thanks.

Hi
Are you trying to use telnet to the outside interface of the ASA ?.
You can't use telnet to connect to the outside interface of an ASA. You need to either
1) Use ssh
2) use telnet but within an IPSEC tunnel.

You can also telnet to the inside interace over the tunnel with the command management-access inside.
