VLAN Interface Down on PIX/FWSM

We added a new vlan (vlan5) in an FWSM context with "nameif inside1" and IP address of mask Routes are set on the router. The interface and line protocol are shown as down. A "no shut" does not enable the interface.

Help? Thanks...

Have you added vlan 5 to the switch chassis ie.

firewall vlan-group 1 5

Obviously you need to modify the above to match what you alrady have.

The vlan was already added to the firewall vlan-group. I should've mentioned it earlier.

allocate-interface vlan5

is the vlan5 created in the switch chassis ie.

If not you will see on the context

> sh int

Interface vlan5 "inside1", is administratively down, line protocol is down

Available but not assigned from Supervisor
