Why to have SIP 600 in 7609 for VPLS

Hi,

I have 7609 chassis with catalyst line card. I want to enable VPLS over it.

Can any one guide me if I can configure VPLS over catalyst line card or it is must to get SIP-600 with SPA.

No you cannot configure VPLS with only a catalyst card.

You would need an OSM/SIP/ES-20 core facing cards to configure the same. As far as i remember, for VPLS the label imposition is done using these core facing cards.
