hi,

i have a scenario where users from remote offices access internet through ho internet link (centralised). The solution required is, when the user tries to access the internet, the access is authorised based on the remote IP sbnet/username from proxy server, and then a counter starts for download size / connection time, on which an usage billing data is required to be generated. customer will provide for th unit which will be used for generating the cash bill to the user.

Please suggest if there is any solution for this using AAA and/or some other cisco software.

cheers!

Nilanjan

Hi,

Using a PIX/ASA , accounting can be configured for traffic from specific subnets/IP.

If authentication is also enforced for cut-through traffic then the username will be seen in the accounting packet.

Vivek

The IP Level Accounting may not help. FYI there is a Cisco 4507R Switch with SUP-IV as the Core Switch which connects the remote location through a Cisco 3845 Router, and Internet through ASA5510-AIP10 + Cisco 2821 Router. I feel using Netflow Card on the SUP and Netflor Collector software, this can be done. Need some tips regarding this, does this really come up with usage level counters?

Hi Nilanjan

Assuming you can get the accounting records logged via ACS you can import them into extraci aaa-reports! to get usage/billing reports.
