Changing from WS-CAC-1300W to WS-CAC-3000W

Dear all,

we have a C6509 and tried to add another WS-X6516A-GBIC card to Slot 5.

The following error occured:

%C6KPWR-SP-4-POWERDENIED: insufficient power, module in slot 5 power denied.

We ordered two WS-CAC-3000W Power Supplies.

Before installation I've some questions.

1) Is it possible to use Hotplug function and change one Power-Supply after the other

("Someone" told us that mixed mode (1300 / 3000 Watt) may end up in unpredictable results ??))

2) Does the System support the new Power-Supplies without image upgrade or other changes ?

Many thanks in advance

Juergen

refer to this link for effects on power supply changes..

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080160a2d.html

as for code I feel you do not need upgrade since you already have two WS-X6516A-GBIC blades running with no issues, but as usual if in doubt it is a good practice to check your current code for bug reports on a regular basis.

Hi Jorge,

many thanks for your link to the effects on power supply changes.

I rated the post, but maybe I've missed to set the checkbox for "solved Author's issue"

I'm sorry for that.

Maybe a moderator can do that.

Many thanks.
