Hello,
When I type this command in by using hyperterminal I get the Ip address of 1.
Can anyone explain to me why? I am new in the cisco world and could use your help.
Thanks,
Lon

Hi,
When doing the command "show ip" on a layer 2 switch it shows the number of the management VLAN as illustrated below (which should be 1 by default, any way try changing it as follows):
SW3#sh ip int brief | i VLAN
VLAN1 unassigned NO unset up down
VLAN13 1.1.1.1 YES manual up up
SW3#sh ip
13

Thanks a bunch,
From your reply I was able to figure out how to change the ip address, but unfortunately when I turned it off it went back to the orginal. I tried to run the command: copy running-config startup-config, but it did not like it. I have a cisco book and have passed the CNA 5 years ago, but I forgot all of it because the lack of having anything to play with. Is there a place to go to find proper commands for certain devices? Do you know the command I need to save my changes for this 2924 switch? The total memory is not quite 4mb if I am reading this right. Is that what you see?
This is what I am looking at so far:
