Hi U-C,

You will need to purchase the Phone licenses as well.They should look something like this (SW-CCME-UL-7961). Here are a couple of clips that speak to this question;

You must purchase a base Cisco Unified CME feature license and phone user licenses that entitle you to use Cisco Unified CME.

From this CME Overview doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps4625/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00807d5548.html#wp2286954

Prerequisites for Configuring Cisco Unified CME

Base Cisco Unified CME feature license and phone user licenses that entitle you to use Cisco Unified CME are purchased.

From this newer CME doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps4625/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00807f6fad.html#wp1017478

Hope this helps!

if i purchased SW-CCME-UL-79xx, and after that i wanted to move to CCM 5.x or 6.x, can this licesne be changed to phones license device units?

Hi U-C,

You are correct that your investment in CME phones will be protected if you upgrade to CCM at a later time. Have a look;

Q. I have a Cisco Unified CallManager Express (CME) customer who wishes to upgrade to Cisco Unified CallManager 5.1. What steps do I need to follow to ensure the licensing transfers?

A. Do the following:

1. Determine how many and what type of devices are on the customer's Cisco Unified CME.

2. Enter the quantity of each device in the "yellow" cell in the Cisco Unified CallManager Device License Unit Calculator pasted at the end of this document.

3. Contact licensing@cisco.com with the MAC address of the publisher and the number of device license units calculated in step 2. The customer does not need a node license-it comes with the new Cisco Unified CallManager.

From this excellent licensing doc;
