Is CCNA training mandatory?

Unanswered Question

I'm looking to pursue a CCNA certification in Vancouver, Canada. I'm just wondering if it is possible to order materials from CISCO and self-study to get certificated, OR do I have to sign-up for some sort of mandatory classes in order to get the certification??

Thanks in advance!

I just bought the cisco press study guide and a couple of cheap routers from ebay to practice on, then passed the exam. Taking a course is not mandatory although it can be easier for some people than self studying.

good luck

Courses are good if you have the time and money. However, if your resources are limited you can do self study with books. However, you will definitely need some hands-on by ether buying some routers and switches or renting time on many of the online labs. I also used Boson simulator, but I still think getting your hands on some real equipment is best because you learn things through trial and error that simulators just can't simulate.
