Hi,
We've successfully upgrading ACS 3.2.1 to 3.3.3 then 4.1.
All remote access works perfectly, so no trouble for the end users.
Therefore we've a problem to edit downloadable ACL's.
I can access to the "Downloadable IP ACLs" panel but when I click on "acls" to edit the properties, I get the following error message :
Number Error
1 ACL name is invalid or contains illegal characters /,\, ,-,;,'
Do you know what happend ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Best Regards

Hi,
So you are not able to make any changes in the acl. Seems to be data corruption, Is it acs windows or acs appliance ? Also this happened after upgrade ?

Thanks for your answer JGambhir.
1- Yes, I can't doing any changes in the downloadable ACL's.
I can create new one ACL's without trouble.
2- It's now ACS 4.1 for Windows running on a Windows 2003 Standard SP2 Server.
3- Yes it happened since we have upgraded.
Don't know if it's still working after the first step => Upgrade 3.2.1 => 3.3.3-11 because I have not tested the acl's editor.

Hi,
Surely it is happening due to data corruption. Please note that acs 4.1 is not supported on SP 2 and can cause many issues.
I'm not sure if SP2 can cause this, so if you have any server running SP1 , I would like you to try restoring acs back up on SP1 server and see if you can make any change.

Ouch !
Don't know Win2K3 SP2 was not supported.
Is there any database integrity/recovery management tool before doing that ?
If not, could you confirm the steps to do it ?
Step 1 => Install ACS Release 4.1(1) Build 23
Step 2 => Restore the ACS config on it ( how to )
Step 3 => try to edit ACL'S
Best regards

Hi,
I've installed a new 2003 SP1 server and installed ACS Win 4.1 from scratch on it.
I've create an ACS Config dump file on the previous server ( Win2K3 SP2 + ACS 4.1 ) and copied it on the new one.
When trying to restore that dump from the ACS config menu, I can't select the dump file because an activeX seems missing.
Problem ACS don't ask me to download or install it.
What can I do ?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks.
it's done and i've restored the file dump created on the SP2 server and ACS 4.1.
Unfortunately the result is the same.
Maybe the dump is already corrupted...
What is your feeling and what can i do now.
Any idea ?

Two options,
1)Open a TAC case, they might be able to fix it.
2)Since it is a cosmetic issue and you can make new acls, so you can ignore the faulty one. Let it be there.

Hi JG,
finally I've found where the problem come from.
I want to share with you and all others the issue.
1- On ACS 3.2.1, acl's was name "acl xxx"
All works fine and I can edit or create new acl based on the same naming model "acl nnn"
2- After upgrading ACS to v3.3.3
All works fine but acl's properties edition wasn't possible.
I also can't create a new one with name "acl nnn".
3- So I try to create a new one named "aclnnn" without blank space between "acl" and "nnn" => It works
4- I renamed all existing acl's without blank space and I can edit acl's again.
Actually, the problem came from the blank space in the acl's name.
Works fine in v3.2.1 but not at all in v3.3.3 and later version ( v4.1 )
Hope it help others users because we have spent a lot of time on a basic troubleshoot.
It doesn't came from Win2K3 SP2 ( works fine too ).
Cheers
