My 3 servers are in vlan1. I am also having 4 other vlans in which clients of those 3 servers are there. like in vlan2 i have clients of all the three server. my question is trunking is required in this situation for the clients to communicate with server or simply ip routing will do the work.

Hi Friend,

If this is a layer 3 switch and all your clients and servers are on same switch then you simple need ip routing and layer 3 interface with respective ip address for vlan communication.

Incase your servers and clients are on different switches and spread across then you need trunk connection between switches.

Also if you have a router for inter vlan routing then you need a trunk between router and switch.
