Hello,

Since I migrated my existing CNA 5.1 to 5.2 and upgraded JRE to 1.6.0_02 I have the following error that prevent me to use CNA:

java.lang.NullPointerException

at com.cisco.cpnm.frmwrk.gen.app.CMSSidebar.setVisible(CMSSidebar.java:95)

at com.cisco.cpnm.frmwrk.gen.app.CMSSidebar$AutoHideMode.load(CMSSidebar.java:228)

at com.cisco.cpnm.frmwrk.gen.app.CMSSidebar.addedToContainer(CMSSidebar.java:173)

at com.cisco.cpnm.frmwrk.gen.app.CMSWorkSpace.addSidebar(CMSWorkSpace.java:83)

at com.cisco.cpnm.frmwrk.gen.menu.PMainMenuSystemManager.<init>(PMainMenuSystemManager.java:145)

at com.cisco.cpnm.products.cms.MainMenuService.init(MainMenuService.java:38)

at com.cisco.cpnm.frmwrk.gen.main.MainApp.init(MainApp.java:155)

at com.cisco.cpnm.boot.internal.BootstrapApplet.init(BootstrapApplet.java:178)

at com.cisco.cpnm.launcher.AppLauncher.initialize(AppLauncher.java:183)

at com.cisco.cpnm.launcher.AppLauncher.main(AppLauncher.java:116)

I rebooted many time the PC (WinXP)and finally managed to start CNA one time without this error. The time after, the same message always appear at startup.

Could anybody help on this?

Thx & Best Regards

Gael

This is a known issue and will be fixed in future release.

Current workaround as a temporary solution:

Go to the directory C:\Documents and

Settings\\.networkassistant\ on the PC where the CNA is

installed. Note that must be replaced by the actual user

login name on that PC and that the ".networkassistant" has a dot at the

beginning.

Remove the file ".featurebar_mode" from the folder.

login name on that PC and that the ".networkassistant" has a dot at the

Remove the file ".featurebar_mode" from the folder.

One more thing:

The issue occurs when the user runs the CNA with "auto hide" mode

selected for the feature menu bar (the menu bar on the left side of the

application).

The feature mode can be switched between "Standard mode"

(always shown) and "Autohide mode" (shown upon request) by using the

menu items under the menu path Application->Feature Bar.

For now do not switch to "auto hide" mode.

Thanks very much for your prompt answer. It s indeed the autohide feature that causes this error.

Thanks again!

i have also same problem. when i login with a different user name, the problem does not exist. waiting for future release.

Even with the user login that has problem, you can avoid that problem if you use the workaround I mentioned earlier in this discussion.
