Dual SUP2/MSFC2 Hybrid IOS to Native IOS conversion question

I plan to do the following steps but this will mean down time to customer. IS there another way to do without downtime.

1. Remove SUP2/MSFC2 in slot 2

2. Convert SUP2/MSFC2 in slot 1.

3. Remove SUP2/MSFC2 in slot 1 and insert SUP2/MSFC2 in slot 2

4. Convert SUP2/MSFC2 in slot 2

5. Insert SUP2/MSFC2 in slot 1

OR

Is there a smarter way to do the conversion?

I did not make it clear in the previous post that my aim is to do hybrid to Native IOS conversion on a CAT 6500 that has two SUP2/MSFC2 modules.

Hi,

According to Cisco the answer is no, and i have always done this stuff as recommended by Cisco in order not to compromise my devices:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_tech_note09186a008015bfa6.shtml#convert

After the conversion you can use the Cisco EDI CatOS to IOS Configuration Conversion Tool:

Hi Friend,

If it was Upgrade from Native to Native with redundant sups we could have reduced a lot in downtime and it will be minimal but your situation is converting the complete file structure i.e from Hybrid mode to Native Mode and you will definetely encounter a downtime and it cannot be avoided.
