9509 LW SFP

Unanswered Question

Hello - we would be connecting two 9509's, situated in different buildings across the street, with three LW SFPs in each switch.

Besides plugging them in (into three adjacent ports), is there anything special that needs to be done? After plugging them in, I'm hoping they would show up as E-ports. Then I plan to port-channel the three ports.

Is my plan sane? Any B2B credits I need to change?

I have this problem too.

Sounds sane enough! What distances are you talking about? If the street is under a 100km's you really shouldnt need to worry about buffer credits changes. :-)

One thing I would do is...

ensure that your trunk is made up of ports on multiple line cards as it would suck if a linecard failed on you and took down the entire link!

It's about 500ft., between the switches. So I guess I'm ok there.

Thanks for the tip about spreading across line cards.
