Hi all, can anyone tell me what the difference is in these, we have a cisco acs, what is this classed as, a radius or tacacs server ?

Hi Carl,
These are the main differences between radius and tacacs. Please see the attached link. Cisco ACS can do both Radius and Tacacs.

I think of Radius as user authentication to the network and Tacacs as Cisco's proprietary protocol for authenticating administrative access to Cisco network devices. We use ACS for both.
