i want to run ip accounting in cisco switch 6509 hybrid Cat IOS

gateway0(config-if)#ip accounting

Accounting will exclude mls traffic when mls is enabled.

Hi ,

It is normal behavior . The reason is that 'normal' data traffic in the 6500 MSFC is NOT actually switch by the MSFC, but rather is switched in hardware by the PFC (policy feature card).

The IP accounting feature will only count traffic that passes through the MSFC. This means it will count traffic that is punted to the MSFC for process. For example this is traffic with IP options set, or traffic that is unable to be switched in hardware.
