Cisco 1841 - QOS over MPLS through GRE tunnels

We are going to be moving away from our current WAN isp and moving from Frame-relay with eigrp to an MPLS network with BGP. All our remote sites use cisco 1841 routers and currently we have gre tunnels between all sites. Due to the sensitivity of data we would like to maintain the GRE tunnels between sites however we are going to be sending vocie and data over the links. We would like to take advantage of the MPLS QOS features for our voice traffic and citrix traffic and therefore need to set IP precedense on these routers. So my questions are

1.) Is it possible to pre-classify and set the IP precedence for the traffic on Cisco 1841 routers prior to encapsulating the traffic over GRE?

2.) Will the 1841 routers have sufficient processing power to support the QOS, gre tunneling and BGP routing?

3.) Are there any limitations with using the 1841 routers in this setup?

Does anyone have any recomendations in this regard?

Thanks

What is the circuit speed ?

If something reasonable like 30, 40Mbps, the 1841 will have no problemin doing that.

One thing you may want to clarify is what the GRE tunnels give you. You mentioned data sensitivity, but remember GRE is no encrypted. If the MPLS provider is able to carry you addressing without problems, GRE should not be necessary.

Have a look at this link for QoS over GRE links.

But as Paolo said GRE does not encrypt traffic and hence i assume you are running IPSEC with GRE.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, we are using IPSEC over GRE (sorry, forgot to mention that)

How will that affect this setup? IP sec is out of the scope of this document.

Thanks

Friend,

THe command essentially is the same. you have to mention qos-preclassify under the crypto map
