Hi
I am about to charge into the CCSP and I am having trouble trying to choose the correct equipment.
From what I have manged to pick up on, would the following be overkill (thinking of cost here) and if so what are the best alternatives?
Cisco PIX-515-UR-FE-BUN Firewall 128MB RAM 7.21 IOS
Also, should I be looking at buying two?

How much money do you have?

Not enough :-)
This is the problem though, striking a balance between budget and actual requirements. I saw this gear posted for EUR 1.630,00 which is clearly a lot of money! I somehow doubt it will make a big diference to my studies at CCSP level - right?
If this is the case - what should I be looking at buying with regard to specs?
Thanks

Had you work before with a PIX/ASA?

Nope - it is all new to me.
I need hands on and I read V7.x is the way to go. Is this right?

Ok, you have to options. You can use a simulator or you can the hardware. For the sim check this page http://www.dcs.napier.ac.uk/~bill/emulators.html.
For the hardware you can buy an ASA5505 and you will be able to do almost everything that can be done in PIX, or FWSM. Check this link for the prices of the ASA: http://computers.pricegrabber.com/firewall-security-devices/m/34879390/search=ASA5505-BUN-K9

The PIX can do everything the ASA can do except for ssl vpn. I found an asa 5505 for $344 USD.

Another option is online rack rental.
