Which Lab Equipments?

Unanswered Question

Hi ,

I'm in the process of getting an extra switch for my CCNA lab but can't afford the prices of the 2950s on ebay. Would you suggest I go for a 1900 or 2900XL? I already own a 2900XL which runs IOS 12.0.

Also, I read somewhere to get hands on isdn practice, how much of this come out on the actual exam if any?

I have this problem too.

If you already have a 2900, you may want to grab a 1900. Unless the tests have changed, you will need to know how to configure both, and the 1900 is much different from the 2900 series.

Switching in general is pretty lightly covered under the CCNA course materials. At a minimum everyone should know how to setup administrative Vlan 1, and trunk links.

Also, I managed to find a pair of 2950's on ebay for less than $200 each, so search ebay daily.
