Does CSM keep any buffered logs?

Hi Sir,

I have deployed CSM (part number: WS-X6066-SLB-APC) on a Catalyst 6513 running Cisco IOS software. The CSM software version is 4.2(4).

When I do the command "sh mod csm 5 reals sfarm..." repeatedly, I notice the counter "total conn failures" keeps on increasing. Below is an example output:

Cat6513#sh mod csm 5 reals sfarm SFARM1 detail

172.16.5.71, SFARM1, state = OPERATIONAL

conns = 152, maxconns = 4294967295, minconns = 0

weight = 8, weight(admin) = 8, metric = 19, remainder = 0

total conns established = 7285039, total conn failures = 1440306

172.16.5.70, SFARM1, state = OPERATIONAL

conns = 153, maxconns = 4294967295, minconns = 0

weight = 8, weight(admin) = 8, metric = 19, remainder = 1

total conns established = 7803073, total conn failures = 1525390

What does this indicative of? Is it the real servers issue or the CSM issue?

Also, does the CSM keeps any buffered logs? How to view the logs? I configured "logging buffered 16384 debugging" on the Cat6513. Are the CSM logs also sent to the switch buffered log?

Please advise.

Thank you.

B.Rgds,

Lim TS

CSM logs are sent to the MSFC.

You view them with 'show logg'

The connection failure counter increases when the server does not respond to a SYN or if the server responds with a RESET.

Take a sniffer trace to verify what is going on.
