We used Unity 3.1(6) with Exchange 2000. Recently we upgrade to Exchange 2007. I configure Unity to consider MS Exchange as down. Now MWI doesn't work anymore and we can only listen messsages but don't delete... Is it possible to configure Unity to don't use Exchange anymore and use only Voice messaging by phone ? Thanks
So as we said many times, Unity has to have a message store. UMR mode is just a temp thing when the message store is unavailable.
As Ginger mentioned you could consider Unity Connection 2,0 where there is no exchange or domino message store.
Unity has to have a message store, even Unity connection, it has its own and not exchange or domino.
UMR is just not a good long term option and for sure will not be supported by TAC.
No - Unity needs to read each user's mailbox to determine whether or not new voice messages have been left. That is why MWI does not work when Unity is running in UMR mode - Exchange is down. Once Exchange is operational again, the AvMsgStoreMonitor service and AvNotifier services work in concert to resynch MWI. The Set Lamp instruction comes from Unity to CallManager as does the instruction for turning the lamp off.
