Hi all, i went on a course last year , i remember saying there were 2 planbes in a router or l3 switch, the routing plane and the switching plane, is this right ?
The terms "routing plane" and "switching plane" are technically the "control plane" and "data plane" in this doc. Control plane functions refer to processes that are run in software, whereas data plane functions refer to processes that are run in hardware.
