Hi, Whenever we connect a new Cisco 2960G-24TC switch onto our network our IBM Blade Chassis (Cisco 4 port Gbe module) drops off the network. I'd appreciate any ideas on why this is happening and on how to resolve. Thanks. Kerry.

Any errors in the log being reported on either switch ?

Are you connecting your 2960G directly onto the IBM switch ?

Do you have portfast enabled on either switchport ? This could be a sign of spanning-tree issue or network loop.

I'm 99% sure this is a STP issue. I had the same issue way back with a mixed environment of cisco, 3com, and IBM bladecenters. Also, what kind of switch module do you have in the bladecenters?

Make sure the root bridge of the network is set correctly and start debugging from there. I'll bet the bladecenters are either blocking or getting blocked when you plug in the new switch b/c STP is out of whack.
