I have also read that after doing only a couple of these exams I would be "specialised" and it looks like I would get 4 certifications in total ! is this also correct ?

Fraser -

I would recommend taking the SNPA or CSVPN tests first. In my opinion, they are the easiest and provide a solid background for some of the other tests. Next, I would take the SNRS and last the IPS. I think these are the two more difficult exams, so I would take them last. I strongly recommend taking the SND exam last because it can be taken without much study if you know the stuff from the other 4. In fact, I took the SND without studying immediately following the IPS test. Basically, I knocked out the last two in about an hour. You will have several specializations by the time you are a full CCSP. (VPN, Firewall and Cisco Security specialties) Additionally, the government grants you the INFOSEC credential by passing the first four exams.

This is just how I did it. If you don't have a solid security background, then you might want to do it opposite of how I did it.

Hope this helps..

The answer above is probably how I will then learn but just one more question....

Is the INFOSEC then only available in the States ? I ask because I work in Germany .

am due to sit for my SND exam next week - i really should have been doing it tomorrow but for work getting in the way - but anyway, once I pass that, then i'll be CCSP certified too.

The order in which i did them is pretty much like the first respondent. I did SNPA, then VPN, IPS, and SNRS last month. SNPA and VPN are a breeze, but i found IPS toughest of all, as i hadnt any hands-on at all, and everything was new to me.

There is totally nothing new with the SND exam, as all the material has been covered in depth with the other exams - if anything it seems more a summary of all i have studied.

Good luck

Hi Mark,

Could you please specify me the ISBN number of book you used for the snpa exam as I am interested in doing snpa.

The author is Greg Bastien and Christian Degu, and the ISBN is:

ISBN-10: 1587201526

ISBN-13: 978-1587201523

Am not sure if this is still the most current exam guide. Check on this page and look up the recommended training and books listed for the exam you are interested in:

Good luck with the exam
