4507 span config

I have my ASA in gi7/5 and my monitoring app in gi7/6. I have the following config:

monitor session 1 source int gi7/5

monitor session 1 dest int gi7/6

When I connect the ethernet cable of the monitoring app to gi7/6 traffic to the ASA stops. Cannot get the outside. If I remove the ethernet cable from gi7/6 everything is fine.

Where have I gone wrong?

I'm not sure where your problem is, but it isn't with your monitor config. Here is the conf for monitoring I'm currently doing on a 4507.

monitor session 1 source interface Gi5/20

monitor session 1 filter vlan 100

monitor session 1 destination interface Gi5/31

No problems at all. What happens when you plug a different device into gi7/6?
