Weird ARP problem

I just installed a device in my vlan 6

When I connect my laptop in vlan 6 I can access the device.

When I connect my laptop in vlan 1 I cant access the device.

If I add a static arp in my core switch:

arp 10.30.4.122 0020.4a52.15f3 ARPA

then it start to work.

After that even if I remove the line in config it will work until I reboot the core switch even if I do a:

clear mac-address-table

clear arp-cache

Any suggestion were to start looking ?

Hi,

did you checked the routing settings among the existing VLANs? It seems a problem with routing, since you connect on the same VLAN and can reach the device and in another VLAN you can?t. Try to check the settings on the L3.

Regards.

I don't see how it could be a routing problem.

I can connect to the device after I make a static arp entry. So the routing is working.

How can you remove a static ARP int the memory without rebooting the switch ?

Check the default gateway defined on the device itself.

I checked the gateway on the device and it is set properly. But If it works after adding the static arp I don't see how it could be the gateway.
