External servers on a san

I've been asked to put some external servers on to our SAN, the SAN is a high availability cluster across 2 geographic sites, they want to have duplicate servers on the redundant site. Can you do this without trunking the external vlan across the core - got a bad feeling about this!!

could you be a little more specific? For instance, will this be a Microsoft Geo-Cluster? if so then yes all hosts will need to be on the same network VLAN. you will also need some sort of software that integrates with Microsoft Clustering (for instance if the shared data is held on EMC Symmetrix you will need SRDF/CE installed on your hosts).

hope this helps.
