Need IOS that supports VLANs for a 2801 router

Can some one tell me why I can't configure an Interface Vlan on my 2801 router. I believe I have the latest ios version "c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-16.bin". Please let me know what I am doing wrong?

i think you mean SVI ,if you don't have layer 2 WIC you cann't use interface vlan - because the router is layer 3 not 2

the only ports that I see are:

fe0/0

fe0/1

fe0

I don't see any WIC cards. The bays are not used at all.

Hi Friend,

You will not be able to configure interface vlan on routers as it is not a layer 3 switch. For vlan routing you have to configure subinterfaces on router and configure subinterfaces with encapsulation dot1q commans to understand vlan tagging.

So configure subinterfaces

interface fa0/0.1

ip address

encapsulation dot1q
