ICM - How to use a 10 digits IDN with a Symposium PG?

Unanswered Question
Aug 29th, 2007

Hi all,

This post relates to the configuration of a Symposium PG with Cisco ICM 6.

Please let me know if this is not the correct forum to post ICM related questions.

In the PG Explorer, when entering the positionId and IDN information, I noticed

that using an IDN with more than 9 digits results in an invalid DN Registration request being sent to the MLSM interface on Symposium/CCMS.

A closer look at the PG logs shows that the DN value being sent is garbage.

This inevitably results in a failed DN registration.

Configuring the PG with an IDN of 9 digits or less works fine (i.e.: The IDN value received by MLSM is correct)

Questions

1) Does anybody know if there is a way to configure the PG so that it will support 10 digits IDNs?

2) Does ICM 7 support 10 digits IDNs?

Best regards,

Michel Danjou

I have this problem too.

Michel -

We're upgrading to v7.x for this very reason. We've have variable length DNs, most of which are more then 10 digits. We received confirmation from TAC, Cisco's Advanced Services AND a third party partner that 7.x will support up to 15 digits.

Beth,

Thanks very much for your input. I am glad this is fixed in ICM 7.

BTW, I did some more testing on the IDN issue and found out that the max value that ICM 6 tolerates is 2147483647. (10 digits)

I guess this is no coincidence that this corresponds to the maximum value you can store on a signed integer...

Best regards,

Michel.
