We are looking into upgrading our 4006/Sup3 core switches with 4506/Sup4 but are concerned with its switching fabric limitations as opposed to HP's comparable offerings (5406zl or the new 8200).
A Cisco CCIE told me that there is a 6GB limit per line card.
We are running a collapsed dual core with six 3550s and five 3524s on the edge.
We are concerned with this because this could be a potential bottleneck for us for the next 5 or 6 years.
Can someone shed more light or provide some good documents on this?
Thanks,

See table 1 in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps4324/products_data_sheet0900aecd802109ea.html and those cards with more than 6 Gb are oversubscribed.

Thanks. But the doc doesn't say anything about the 6GB bottleneck to the switching fabric.
You confirmed what the Cisco employee said.
Never mind the "non-blocking" and "wire speed" beautification in the presentations abd ads. The only non-blocking ports are those in the Sup engines and certain ports in certain line cards.
I don't think I want to have our next 5-7 years depend on a platform like that.
