route subnet through vpn?

I was wondering if it is possible to route a subnet through a vpn?

I want to join 2 private networks (work and home) through a cisco vpn.

I have added a static route to the vpn concentrator that uses the vpn connection as a gateway, but for some reason the packets don't get routed.

Is there anything in particular that needs to be setup to allow a subnet to be routed through the vpn?

I can do a traceroute from my work and I can see that the static routes are setup correctly because the last hop ends at the vpn concentrator, but for some reason to packets don't go down the vpn.

Are there any special configuration options that need to be set for the vpn to make it work?

I have this problem too.
