Hi

On a router with primary link and isdn backup. Under normal operation ie. primary link is UP, doing a trace route from the router console did fired the ISDN.

Is this normal? can some one shed some light on this.

PS: Some tests i did, indicated its normal.

Hi Jay,

Nice to hear from u.Under any circumstance any traffic should not trigger the isdn(if primary link is UP) unless you intentionaly ping to the ISDN interface IP. PLease check in your configurations for

1) Interesting packets triggering the dialer

2) give sh dialer command and see for which packet from which source triggered the dialer

3) Even you can try giving a debug the access-list mentioned in the interesting traffic(Be careful)

4) See for any static routes without AD configured.

Please revert back in the forum or do drop an email to me and i will get back to you asap.

Thanks and Regards,
