Hi,

The 3560G-48PS supports 48 PoE Class 2 (7.7W) and 24 PoE Class 3 (15.4W) devices, with a total switch Maximum Power Consumption of 590 W.

"When Cisco Unified IP phones are connected to common switches such as the Cisco Catalyst 3560 Series Switches or Cisco Catalyst 3570 Switches, the switch can automatically detect the phone type and provide the exact amount of power that the phone needs. The use of Cisco Discovery Protocol provides this greater granularity to the power classification, allowing more accurate reporting of power consumption, and a higher density of phones on the same switch. The Cisco Unified IP Phone 7975G will draw a maximum of 12W from a switch; this places it beyond the limits of Class 2, but below the default 15.4W value of Class 3."

HTH,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

Thanks Mohammed,

I hear what you are saying, but i would like to know if there is anything i can get the 3560G 48 Ports to support the 48 Phones.

Thanks

Tau

Hi Tau,

According to Cisco the 3560G-48PS can deliver the necessary power to support 24 ports at 15.4W, 48 ports at 7.7W, or any combination in between, and accordingly the maximum per design is 369.6W (15.4 x 24) which is equivalent to around 30 7975 IP Phones that draw 12W each, and i don't believe that there is a way for you to support 48 7975 IP Phones on a single 3560G-48PS.
