When users allow their computers to hibernate with a VPN session established, sometimes Windows sockets will be in a bad state after the machine resumes. The user then has to reboot in order to be able to re-establish communications on their machine. Is there a version of the Cisco client where this problem has been solved?

An article on the Microsoft Website, which states that the vpn connection gets terminated when computer is put in standby mode.

In these instances, we see errors from the Cisco client just before the computer hibernates. Our theory is that the Cisco connection goes into a bad state and therefore isn't responding to any messaging from Windows.
