Hi,
We are using 7206VXR (NPE-G1)as a BRAS (PPPoA and PPPoE), with around 2000+ users, and in my experience i guess that it can take the 3000+ users you need (it supports up to 20050 IDBs, and the CPU is still in the 20-30 range).

Mohammed Mahmoud.

Hi Farhan,
You are very welcomed, our DSLAMs are terminated to the VXR and it is running "c7200-js-mz.123-8.T11.bin".

Thanks Mahomoud,
one more ques please.
DSLAMs are directly connected to 7206VXR or is there any ATM switch in b/w?
And if directly connected, which card are you using in 7206VXR for this support?
And any idea about IP based DSLAM?

hi,
The ATM DSLAMs are connected to the VXR through a BPX (Cisco ATM Switch) using PA-A3-OC3MM, and the IP DSLAMs are connected to the VXR through a Cat6k.
I hope that i've been informative.
HTH,
Mohammed Mahmoud.

That reminds me when I was doing scalability testing for exactly this type of application. Numbers of 4000 and even 8000 PVCs were tested satisfactorily with NPE-400. With G1 or G2, it should go like a charm.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Yes, it can be done. For an high number of users, please use NPE-G1 or G2.
The recommended release for broadband services is 12.2SB.
