Testing of E1 port by loop

hi,

We are having Channelised E1 ports on 3845 routers. We have created channel groups from 1 to 30 and corresponding serial links ( Created automatically ). But somw how the controller is not coming up. We have earlier tried "hard loop" test to test router card. Which was found ok. Now as when we have connected E1 modem to the controller we are not getting the prptocol up. We tried to give local loop towards router from modem, expecting we will see a Looped status for every serial links. But we could not see any loop. Firstly i am not sure about do we really get such looped status on serial link on E1 ports. I am sure that we can see the loop status on point to point link ( serial port ) when a local loop is given towards router from modem. But i would like to know if such loop can be seen on E1 ports by giving local loop by E1 modem.

Thanks in advance

Subodh

Yes, local loop from modem to router should show controller E1 up, and all the interfaces pertaining to channel-groups, in a up/up (looped) status.
