Hi,

We are monitering PIX 535 by CA unicenter NMS .PIX: 535 is configured in active - acive mode of failover. We found that PIX is running out of memory.

command # show memory detail output is as shown as below surprisingly it is showing used memory as negative !!

In other context memory is used is very less so we dont see any problem in that context.

------------

HERE IS O/P

------------

Most used memory: -722448436 bytes (333%)

PNPINTF1/admin# show memory detail

Used memory: -723752652 bytes (333%)

------------- ----------------

Total memory: 1073741824 bytes (100%)

Most used memory: -722448436 bytes (333%)

PNPINTF1/admin#

How to debug this probelm.

Any link on cisco.com is apprecialbe.

Any similar experience , please share !

This will enable us to improve PIX performance.

Thanx in advance

Subodh

Use the command "show processes" to check which process is eating up the memory. If you are experiencing trouble in opening new connections use command "show conn or show local-host" to check for open connections or if the network is under DoS attack. The high memory could also be because of some process leaking the memory in which case a reboot may help and to completely remove the problem upgrade the PIX to latest and stable release.
