Hello

can anyone tell me the difference between the win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-5a.exe

(31-JUL-2007) and the win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-4a-sr10.exe (21-AUG-2007).

Which one do I have to use now. We currently have 2000-4-4a SR6 and I just don't

know what I have to use for the next OS update.

Hi Reto,

You should be just fine with win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-4a-sr10.exe

Here is a look at the Readme's for the two versions;

The win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-5a sr2.exe was released on August 21 as well and contains the same Security fixes as win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-4a-sr10.exe .

Hi Reto,

The OS versions are based on a version number (ex. 2000-4-4a, 2000-4-5a, 2003-1-2), and a Service Release number (ex. SR2, SR6, SR3a).

Generally speaking, it is recommended to stay up to date on the Service Releases available for the OS version you currently have. At the time of this writing, the most current SR for 2000-4-4a is SR10.

There would be no harm in upgrading the OS version to the next level (2000-4-5a), however it is not required, especially as long as Service Releases continue to be released for your current OS version. If you want to see further information about what is new in the next OS version, find the README file for the *base* OS version you want to investigate.
