Failed 640-801 Exam

Unanswered Question
Sep 6th, 2007

I just failed the 640-801 CCNA exam with a score of 796. It was my first time taking the test so I'm not entirely surprised, just disappointed and going broke. The breakdown was as follows:

Planning and Designing 83%

Implementation and Operation 50%

Troubleshooting 66%

Technology 84%

Do any of you know any good study materials that could help me in my 2 weakest areas? I think I messed up on my first question, which was an access list simulation and which probably marred by efforts from the start. I really need help with access-lists, but none of the study guides I have found can adequately prepare you for the sims on the test. Any suggestions?

I have this problem too.

What are you currently using? I found with access list I had to read the material over and over until I got it.

I was using the Sybex book. I thought I answered the question correctly, however, it must have been incorrect because its the only thing that could account for the score I got in implementation and operation.

To raise the Implemenatation and Operations score, do more work with the simulations, or real equipment.

Access lists can be tricky to configure because of implicit denies and editing rules. I don't know if you wanted to learn about extended or named access lists.

Most books for CCNA gloss over access lists so you may be better served reading a CCNP book on this topic.

I have posted a video on YouTube which may help but I can't post the theory or lab configs on there.

Hope it helps.
