Switch making noise issue

Hello all,

I got a Switch: 3750-24PS, it is making noise. It sounds like fan issues.

captured "show env all" and "show log", no errors found.

checked Cisco 3750 data sheet:

Cisco Catalyst 3750-24PS: 38-42 dB45dB.

Anybody know the acceptable dB range? And how could I measure the dB?

Does cisco have specific procedure for noises issue?

Anybody has better idea? If the switch needs to be sent to RMA, any testing procedure that I need to apply?

nope, just call the TAC for an RMA and say the fans are roaring and need to be replaced before they fail and your network goes down.

A noisy fan is normally a fan that will die soon.

You need to contact whoever supports your network - be it Cisco or a Partner to arrange replacement.

A 3750 fan shouldn't be failing already they aren't that old , not saying it can't . I believe the fans are variable speeds and they can be noisy if they ramp up if the closet temp is high , then this is normal .

I did check the switch temp. via "sh env. temp."

it showed " temperature: OK"

I also doubt the closet temperature is a factor that causes fan issue.

Is it possible in this situation?

I just want to confirm it before the switch sent for warranty.
