MOH loud through PSTN

Tommer Catlin

have a complaint that MOH is too loud. Is there a way to turn the volume down on it? Also, it is loaded in as a flash file on the router. Not sure if this limits my possibilities or? I supposed I could have the WAV file re-recorded at a lower output?

Thanks!

Hey TCAT,

Unfortunately you will have to redo the audio file. Have a look;

The volume level of a MOH file cannot be adjusted through the Cisco IOS software, so it cannot be changed once the file is loaded into the flash memory of the router. To adjust the volume level of a MOH file, edit the file in an audio editor prior to downloading the file to router flash memory.

From this CME doc;

If it were loaded via CCM you could use this method;

Here is an excellent Cisco Tech Note, pay special attention to this excerpt;

"Changes to this parameter only affect audio files that are processed after the change occurs."

From this doc;

CallManager Music On Hold Volume Adjustment

Hope this helps! Sorry my friend :(

Thanks Rob! I thought everyone loved Jimmy Buffet for MOH?? just jokin. I figured in IOS it will have to adjusted another way. I thought maybe there was another way.. but the links look great.

Cheers and take care!

Ha Ha Ha! Too funny.....About 15 years ago we hooked up MOH to a local radio station not realising the legal ramifications etc. We spent some good amount of time trying to configure this on the PBX of the day. Well, about 1 hour after getting everything working we were told to shut it down. It turns out one of our VP's had called in, was put on Hold and proceeded to hear Abba for the next few minutes :) I guess he wasn't a huge Abba fan.

Just goes to show that you can't please all the people all the time!

Take care Tommer,

Rob
