switchport mode access may answer an expert please.

Talking about port-security from my point of view you need an explicit line

switchport port-security

beside the other commands

switchport port-security something1

switchport port-security something2

Otherwise port security is configured but not enabled.

Hi Friend,

By default switchports are in dynamic desirable mode and port security can only be configured on static access ports or trunk ports. A secure port cannot be a dynamic access port.

That is the reason it is required for you to configure 1st line and then come down to 2nd line of your config.
