I have an 6513 switch with sup720-3B module and i am finding difficulties in creating VLAN in the switch, its allowing me to create but once i exit of the configuration it gives an error message and the error message is like " Error exiting config-vlan mode 29: Bad domain name length ".. i thought it could be some ios issue but the ios is free from bugs i believe as in cisco site, what could be the reason for this behavior...and the switch is in transparent mode

tw_dc0005_CS15(config)#vlan 3

tw_dc0005_CS15(config-vlan)#name vlan3

Error exiting config-vlan mode 29: Bad domain name length

tw_dc0005_CS15#sh bootflash:

-#- ED ----type---- --crc--- -seek-- nlen -length- ---------date/time--------- n

Hi Sundar,

Can you please check if VTP domain name is configured? If it is set to NULL you may get this error message. Can you check it issuing a command "sh vtp status"?

*Pls rate all helpfull post

Hi Sundar,

You are getting an error when you are configuring name to your created vlans so on other switch where you do not have any domain name can you try configuring name to your vlan and confirm if you get any message or not?
