Windows L2TP/IPsec to PIX w/ LOCAL Authentication

I am attempting Windows L2TP/IPSec connection to a pix 515. I am trying to use LOCAL authentication for the clients. This does not work. As soon as I use a RADIUS server for authentication it works fine. Anyone know why?

If you want to authenticate users locally by using MS-CHAP or MS-CHAPv2 (which is normally used in conjunction with L2TP/IPSEC), you have to add the "mschap"-keyword at the end of the username-statement.

username admin password cisco mschap
