Hi,
I have a home lab with 2501 routers. I just picked up a 1721 router with 1 DSU T1 WIC card, RJ45 port. How can the serial port on the 2501 physically connect to the RJ45 WAN port on the 1721 router?

You need a T1 DSU with serial interface (most common is V.35) for this. Sometime incorrectly called "T1 modem". There are many makers and models, should be easy to find used on the leading auction site.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Hi
You can achieve your goal using following setup
PC---Router2501--(v.35 to RJ-45 converter)---Router1721--PC
For above setup you need
1) One DB-60 to V.35 cable.(WIC-1T has DB-60 Port so connect DB-60 end to 2501 router's Serial Port and another end to coverter)
2) V.35 to RJ-45 Converter(For Ex:- D-Link FE2VL)this type of coverters has V.35 input Interface and RJ-45 Output interface.
this will solve your issue.

Sagiterian.

Sagiterian,
May you have incorrectly typed D-Link 'FE2VL'? I could not find the above on Dlink's web site.
Thanks.

The device mentioned appears to support E1 only, while T1 is needed in this case.
Common makers are adc kentrox, telindus, and a lot of no-name boxes.
