Hi all, I am preparing for BCMSN exam.

In defining access layer switches, cisco recommends to use devices that has "high port density"? What does this expression mean?

Thanks

Reza

It means a switch with a lot of switchports.

For instance, a 48Port switch has a higher port density than a 24Port switch.

In simple words, "High Port density"

@ Access Layer - depends on no.of switch ports on a Switch to connect End-user devices

@ Distribution Layer - No of High Speed switch ports to aggregate traffic from Access layer switches
