High THREAD-process load on Cat6509

The Cat6509 runs CatOS 6.4(13) The command "sho proc cpu" shows sometimes that:

CPU utilization for five seconds: 54.32%

one minute: 32.85%

five minutes: 27.46%

Is the switch lacking of power?

No your switch is not lacking of any power. Normally, the high cpu was caused by enabling rpf on a GE interface and removing it, the procees that was high was the FIB, switch5 > (enable) sho proc cpu.

What does rpf do? Is that enabled in a constant intervall? I have sometimes funny ping-replies to that switch (see attach.). Any idea? Thx.

Are you running BGP?

What version of SUP720 do you have? (a, b, bxl)

No BGP. No SUP720, it is an old SupVis1a WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE
