hello guys
i have a 6509 core switch with sup2
my pcmcia storage is 256MB.
but when i insert the disk inot sup slot the device can not detect it,it goes to rommon and nothig will happen.
any idea?

dear mahmod,
in rommon, when i want to boot from slot0: i recieve an error
rommon1>dir slot0:
open:read error...request 0x4 byte, got 0xfffffff
trouble reading device magic number
dir:cannot open device "disk0"

here is the result:

it seems that u r flash i.e disk0 is corrupted or u r ios is not valid.
Can u format and copy this image in the flash and try to boot.

format with win xp you mean?
cause there is no format command on the rommon

I think Mahmood means format on the 6500. Can you get your 6500 to boot up with another IOS or do you have another 6500 running IOS.
The format command is available when the switch is up and running.

the flash pcmcia is formated by sup2.
if the problem was on format issue the sup couldt detect it or make "dir" command.
i think the format is ok!
please follow up the case with me..

I had this problem before. I had to put the flash in another like switch, format it in there, but the correct IOS on it, and then put it back in the switch that had the problem. The flash that was on the disk was for a different sup engine. ONce the correct one was on there it worked.

Looks like your PCMCIA card is not supported, it is simply too big:
