L2 VPN config at CE

hi

i am bit confused with the config at CE for L2 VPN.

Current scenario is:

CE-PE-PE-CE

MPLS is enabled b/w PE to PE. But what should i do at CE end.

I have configured this:

int fa0/1.600

encapsulation dot1q 600

ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.252

with ptp ip on both CE, but both CE cannot ping to each other.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

For a true layer2 VPN (actually a VLAN) it would suffice to assign both ends to the same vlan. No IP needed for that.

Otherwise, you (PE) are routing between vlans.

What ip adresses did you assign on either side?

What mask did you use (expect /30?)

How is routing been done between the PE's?

Are the interface directly connected on the same switch?

regards,

Leo

Point to Point IP addresses are assigned on CE routers, with mask /30.

Same Vlan-id is used on both sides. And these ids are mapped on PE routers as well.

In fact these ptp IPs on CE routers ae basically customers subnet assumed, so customer can reach from end A to end B, via Provider's backbone.

The provider backbone is L2, so no ips or routing done for customer's prefixes.

I hope u understand my point.

Is it possible that u can post a sample config from CE to CE?

Thanks
