Implement FCIP Compression online/offline?

Unanswered Question
Sep 13th, 2007

Hello all,

I am trying to implement FCIP compression on a Core/Edge fabric:

switch# config terminal

switch(config)# interface fcip 1

Creates an FCIP interface (51).

switch(config-if)# ip-compression auto

switch# show interface fcip 1 counters

switch# show ips stats hw-comp all

Can this procedure be executed online? I was unable to find an answer to this in the Cisco docs.

Thanks ahead.

Creating an fcip interface is non-disruptive to devices.

Once the fcip interface is up, any traffic flowing over it will be disrupted for about 30 seconds if you make certian fcip changes, e.g. modify min & max bandwidth, change compression mode.
